Floating Glasses
(Deliverance Series)
The Floating Glasses are a conceptual eyewear piece designed to challenge traditional notionsof human enhancement and visibility. Rooted in the speculative future proposed by Deliverance, this piece reflects a world in which functional augmentation and aesthetic minimalism converge.
Digitally modeled in Rhino 3D, the glasses are engineered to appear as though they float weightlessly on the face, eliminating the conventional side arms and relying instead on a frame that contours to the bridge of the nose. This subtle innovation allows the frame to rest securely on the nostrils, blending anatomical precision with a futuristic silhouette.
The production process echoes the intersection of human and machine: the digital design is 3D printed, then cast in aluminum, a material chosen for its lightweight properties and industrial finish. Finally, the lenses are hand-installed on the bench, reinforcing the piece’s hybrid nature—half digitally derived, half hand-finished.
More than eyewear, the Floating Glasses function as a wearable sculpture—a speculative accessory that explores identity, perception, and the future form of the human face in an altered genetic and technological landscape
